Why New Prague? By Jason Witt

As a lifelong resident of the New Prague area, except for college and a stint in Australia, I often get asked by people relocating, if I like New Prague?  My answer is unequivocally, YES!  New Prague still has the small town feel within an hour of most of the Twin Cities area, so location – check!  The New Prague School District is one of the top districts by many matrices in the state, thanks to great leadership and teachers – check!  New Prague also has active religious communities of many faiths for your choosing to get involved with – check!  We have a Mayo Clinic hospital, which many communities of our size do not have, offering both the excellent medical services and a place to volunteer at.  Add to that, an active arts community, top notch school athletic facilities, including a state-of-the-art indoor aquatic center, an active main street that will be getting a facelift this year and next, and up to date city services and local government.   But I’ve saved the best for last – who could leave out our rich Czech history and traditions showcased at the Dozinky Festival on the 3rd Saturday in September.  It’s the highlight of the year for all New Prague residents!

All in all, I can say unequivocally, yes! New Prague is a great place to live and raise a family.  My parents started a business and raised their family here, and my siblings and I have taken on that business and raised our families here, and now some of our kids are starting to settle down in New Prague as well.  If you are considering relocating to New Prague, I know you won’t be disappointed!  And my family’s business would love to help you do that!
