It’s SepticSmart Week in Minnesota
A good time to revisit septic system Do’s and Don’ts
Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz has declared this SepticSmart Week in Minnesota (Sept. 14-20). More than 600,000 Minnesota residents and businesses depend on a septic system to treat their wastewater from toilets, sinks, washing machines, etc.
Properly maintaining your septic system helps safeguard human health, protect the environment, and save you money. Septic system repairs caused by a lack of understanding about how they work, or even simple neglect, can be very costly.
Be sure you know your septic system Do’s and Don’ts. The two big “Do’s” are: inspect it (at least every 3 years) and protect it. This MPCA guide tells you how.
